Friday March 18th in Melbourne Beach

Happy Birthday to our daughter-in-law Cheryl.  Love you xxoo.

Another wonderful sunny warm Florida day.  The girls did some early morning spring planting around the Lovett's house.  Then the all girl crew headed out to Vero Beach for shopping and lunch.

The Nissan was in need of an oil change service.  There was also a road noise which to me felt like a tire issue or perhaps a wheel bearing.  While at the garage the service technician road tested the Altima.  The service advisor had a bad news, good news story.  The bad news being that there is a transmission problem and the good news is that Melbourne Nissan will replace the transmission under warranty and provide me a loaner while mine is in the shop.  They have to order the transmission and the job should be completed next week.  I must say, I am a bit relieved because I would hate to be headed north next month and end up stranded on the side of the interstate with the problem.  Stink happens.

The boys met at Loggerhead's for our usual afternoon cocktail.  It is an interesting place with many regulars and lots of friendly conversation and tales.

Thursday March 17th in Melbourne Beach

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Melbourne Beach.  The celebrations in this area start today and continue for three (3) days, with a parade in downtown Melbourne on Saturday with street closures, live bands, kiosks and lots ov fun revellers.  Ron and I plan on taking in the festivities on Saturday and enjoy the sights and sounds and of course BEER.

The girls were off to exercise class.  Upon their return and cleaning up they were off to a luncheon with some of the local ladies in the MB area.  I am sure there was lots to talk about and they no doubt enjoyed themselves.

Ron, New Jersey, Big John, who I referred to as "Connecticut Big John" were off to the Baytree National GC for a 120 PM T-time.  The golf course is a Gary Player disgn with lots of water and encircled in a nice neighbourhood.  The Blue tees play 6,081 yards with a slope rating of 123 with the Black, back tees playing 7,043 yards and sloped at 135. The day was a great golf weather day and we had an enjoyable round of golf.  Attached are a few pics from our golfing with some local crittiers. G

Wednesday March 16th in Melbourne Beach

We have been blessed, the weather has been outstanding.

Congratulations to proud grand parents, Jim and Alena who welcomed a new grand daughter yesterday.

The girls headed out for lunch at a Mexican Restaurant which served, $0.99, Margarita's.  I am sure they had an enjoyable lunch followed by the new trial Olympic Sport, "Shopping".

"Honest John's Fish Camp"
A 1952 working tractor at "Honest John's" which is used to tow boats to the launch.

The Cariolina Skiff tied up at the wharf at the end of Ron's street used by the property owners.

The street view of Ron and Arabella's new Melbourne Beach home.

The back of Ron and Arabella's Melbourne Beach home.

This is the signage in the Indian River advertising the bar.

This is Missy, from Cincinnati OH who the boys refer to as "Loni".

The dolphins were chasing a school of fish in the Indian River.

Well, the boys have different interests and headed out to "Honest John's Fish Camp" for an afternoon in the Carolina Skiff on the Indian River.  We toured the river and found Ron's new house boat wharf and surveyed the dock age. We also walked up the street and viewed the house front and back.  Ron and Arabrella take possession on April 1st.

Back on the river we stopped at a island and walked the beach, the water is brackish but very warm.  We then went to the local bar for $l.00 beer and enjoyed the environment.  Another day in Melbourne Beach, not a bad way to spend your time.

Tuesday March 15th in Melbourne Beach

Another wonderful Florida weather day, I am adjusting to this easily and this old body enjoys the warm temps.

An early start to the day.  Barry and I headed out to finalize the purchase of the boat, gas, banking, a water test on the St. John River, closing the deal and trailering the boat back to Melbourne Beach and stowing it at Ron's.

Helene and Shelia went to the South Beach Recreational facility to exercise class.  After lunch the girls had a dip in the pool and lounged around.  Then it was cocktail time.  The boys went to the local watering hole for a beer.  Another day gone.

Monday March 14th in Melbourne Beach

Happy Birthday Nick.  His family gathered for a supper to honor the baby boomer senior.

Another great weather day in Florida, 16 C to 25 C, its hard to complain about the weather.  Helene and I walked the beach searching for shells and broken glass.  There are more people around because of the school break.  The afternoon was spent pounding the shopping areas.  It was another fun day and now a memory.

Sunday March 13th in Melbourne Beach

A cool clear morning which quickly warmed up to a wonderful weather day.  After being on the computer and reading the local paper it was time to get moving.  We went to the S B I, a local seaside bar with the "Awesome Blues", a live band playing on the patio.  We enjoyed the music, mainly because we knew most of the words to the majority of songs they played.  A few cold beer and margartias and the afternoon was gone.  There was an airshow in the Titisville area but we missed out.  The days continue to zoom by.

Saturday March 12th in Melbourne Beach

A lazy start to the day after being awakened by the lawn sprinklers which come on Saturday mornings at 0630 AM.  We enjoyed a mid morning breakfast with Vonnie and Albert.  They left at noon headed to the Kississimee area to take possession of their Florida rental. We enjoyed their company.

Barry and I headed out in the afternoon to the Mimes area where he was viewing a boat to purchase.  We travelled in his 1999 BMW Z-3 with the top down and off like to young bucks. My first drive in a BMW. Even thought the BMW was older it still had the distinct German leather smell. The engine is a jewel, a fun experience. We located the boat in a nice community and met with the owner and a deal was struck pending a water test.

The girls, Helene and Shelia, were out and later spent the afternoon by the pool.

It was Arabella's birthday and their friends in the area met for cake, coffee, tea and a glass of wine in the evening.  It was a great day.
